Last night’s loss was… Bleh. The Jays really, really to take three out of four from Tampa Bay in this series making tonight and tomorrow afternoon’s games essentially must wins. Thankfully, we have Big Game Stro on the mound.

News and Scuttlebutt

The Blue Jays Care foundation is auctioning off these care packages that the players on the team put together, and, as Matttomic from Twitter points out, Ryan Tepera would be an ideal guy to hang out with on a patio to enjoy some cold ones with. Here are the rest of them.

By my count, the Blue Jays only have 38 players on their 40-man roster, which, in my delusional head, means Devon Travis' return is nearing.

An interesting note here from Jonah Birenhaum, in the wake of the Jays making a few roster moves today. He points out that Toronto has two open spots on their 40-man roster, meaning Devon Travis, who’s currently on the 60-day DL and not the 40-man, could be close to returning. Of course, that’s wishful thinking, but you’d assume there’s a reason they opted to release Chris Coghlan yesterday without adding anyone else in his place.

And now, the lineups…

Blue Jays

Marcus Stroman: 3.00 ERA, 153 IP, 8.9 H9, 0.8 HR9, 2.8 BB9, 7.3 SO9

Rays

Jacob Faria: 3.19 ERA, 73 1/3 IP, 7.2 H9, 0.9 HR9, 3.3 BB9, 9.1 SO9
Jacob Faria has been a very pleasant surprise this season for the Rays, low-key emerging into one of the team’s best starters since being called up back in May. He’s been consistently solid, having only allowed more than three runs in two of 12 starts. Marcus Stroman, as we know, has also been very, very good, and is coming off of one of his best starts of the season against the Pirates.
