After snapping a 4 game losing streak against the Angels in the series opener on Tuesday, the Jays went back to their late-May antics tonight, dropping this one late in the game.
Things worth mentioning…
- Aaron Sanchez left the game with a 3-0 lead, and it was the bullpen who lost the game tonight. Tyler Clippard blew the team’s second save in the ninth inning this year, giving up hits to Shohei Ohtani and Andrelton Simmons.
- Devon Travis hit his first home run since returning to the lineup in the third inning, and Yangervis Solarte followed with his own in the fourth. That would really be it for the Jays offence all night, with all 3 runs coming from both Travis and Solarte on their respective homers.
- What might have been the highlight of the night was the outfield sign that literally epitomizes the thoughts of Jays fans after a painful couple of weeks:

Fingers crossed, people.

It was the three consecutive walks that killed me. At least with the ball in play, you have a chance to get an out.
Yeah I checked into the gameday feed in the 9th.. saw that Clippard had made 18 pitches and I think 13 were balls. Just turned it off and went to bed.
Yah totally right Clippard setup his own problems with the walks. I would of left fish batter man taperra in since he was bringing gas on a food pitch count. Clippard has not looked good since the grand slam. I think the Clippard closer thing is over. Try Oh “The Hammmer” And Martin has been total crap throwing players out stealing. Like 4 for 40 Maile time
It’s starting to feel like this may not be our year now that we are approaching Veterans day weekend. The team is certainly more capable, but it’s starting to feel similar to last year. We got too old too fast…
Memorial Day. Veterans Day is a totally different holiday, I believe it’s in August.
Memorial Day may also be appropriate at this rate.
Also, M’s are 10 over 500! Ugh.
Oh right, that’s the one. All I know is there are day games on today and it pisses me off.
Man, sanchez has not been great this year. Walking a lot of batters, not missing bats, velo is down. I wonder what is up with him.
I do not think anything wrong with Sanchez physically but just a mental grind for him right now. velocity is down for him to focus on pitch location and control and stamina. Like Mark Bruehelle always said in not so many words is to take something off your pitches to re-find your release point do not try harder (are pitch faster).
