Blue Jays announce Minor League rosters

Minor League Baseball gets kicked off later this week. Which affiliates should you care about?

Keegan Matheson of Baseball Toronto broke all four of Toronto’s full-season minor league teams down nicely in this tweet:

In Buffalo… we have a rotation that features Joe Biagini, Ryan Borucki, Deck McGuire, Sam Gaviglio, and Taylor Guerreri. One of those spots would have been filled by Thomas Pannone, but, as we know, he got suspended for using the Chris Colabello drug. Biagini seems to be the No. 6 starter who would be called up in the event of an injury on the big league club. The most interesting thing about this roster are the outfielders and catchers. Both Danny Jansen and Reese McGuire will catch (and likely DH) while the outfield is loaded with Dwight Smith, Teoscar Hernandez, and Roemon Fields. And that’s with Dalton Pompey and Anthony Alford on the disabled list.

In New Hampshire… we are witnessing the future. Bo Bichette and Vlad Jr. headline the roster making the Fisher Cats easily the most attractive team in Toronto’s system. But there’s more! Lourdes Gurriel will start at Double-A and Max Pentecost will be the team’s starting catcher. Sean Reid-Foley and Jon Harris will have their second go-around at the level after a disappointing 2017 and the pitching staff will have an interesting veteran presence with Craig Breslow and Nick Tepesch on the roster.

In Dunedin… it’ll be the Nate Pearson and T.J. Zeuch show. Pearson was ridiculously good in short-season ball last summer after being drafted while Zeuch will repeat at Single-A after he missed a decent chunk of time last year due to injuries. Logan Warmoth, Toronto’s other first-round pick in 2017, will also begin the season at Single-A and could be a quick riser through the system.

In Lansing… uhhhh the Lugnuts are pretty devoid of interesting prospects. After getting to watch Bo and Vlad kick the shit out of the Midwestern league last year, Lansing doesn’t have all that much to get excited about.
