The Vancouver Canadians, the Blue Jays’ High-A affiliate, have clinched a playoff spot

On Wednesday night, the High A Vancouver Canadians punched their ticket into the Northwest playoffs.
After a first half that saw the team finish 30-33, fourth in the NW League, the Toronto Blue Jays affiliate have had a fantastic second half, where their record sits at 37-25.
Undeniably, the biggest series of the second-half game was against the team from Spokane last week, who were the only team still in the hunt for the postseason. At the start of that series on August 30th, the Canadians only had one and a half games on Spokane in the overall standings.
Vancouver won the series 5-2, including a doubleheader on the 31st, which extended their lead to four games. With a Spokane loss on Tuesday night, all Vancouver needed to do was win a game or for Spokane to lose a game, the former coming on Wednesday night.
Dasan Brown led off the bottom of the first with a homer, and the Canadians never looked back. P.K Morris and Miguel Hiraldo also went yard, the latter leaving the yard. All but one C’s player registered a hit as well, a complete performance.
The player of the game had to be starter Michael Dominguez, who pitched six strong innings, where he only allowed two hits and a walk while striking out nine. Sam Ryan had a strong performance after him, retiring the side on just nine pitches.
Eric Pardinho struck out three and gave up the only run, before newly drafted Devereaux Harrison capped off the game with a playoff-clinching strikeout.
The five-game series starts September 12th for two games, before shifting to Vancouver for the third game on Friday. The Canadians can win the second half outright, as they just need to win the next four games Eugene Emeralds, who also happen to be first in the second half standings.
If you enjoy prospect content, keeping an eye on the Canadians as they look to win the title is worth it.
