Game Threat: Is There A Light At The End Of This Tunnel? Red Sox (9-5) @ Blue Jays (2-11)
By Cam Lewis
7 years agoI’m totally lost on things to say at this point. The team managed to score seven runs yesterday, which is more than they’ve had the rest of the season combined, I’m pretty sure, but it wasn’t good enough for a win. Ugh. Come on. Let’s get one today.
News and Scuttlebutt
So if you haven’t been paying attention today, here you go. The Blue Jays are replacing Aaron Sanchez and J.A. Happ’s spots in the rotation with *draws name from hat* Mat Latos and Casey Lawrence! Come on down! Lawrence and Latos will go this weekend against the Angels. You know, the team with Mike Trout. It doesn’t look good, friends.
They’ll be pitching because the Blue Jays have a lead in the late innings, right? Right?!?! RIGHT???? Ha ha haaaa!
Would you rather play for the Blue Jays or just not at all? It seems Angel Pagan has taken the vacation year. Many of us have suggested that the Jays should add Pagan to help solidify their left field situation, but it didn’t happen, and now we can close the book on it.

And now, the lineups…
Blue Jays
Francisco Liriano: 7.0 IP, 9.00 ERA, 2.0 H9, 1.3 HR9, 7.7 bb9, 14.1 SO9
Red Socks
Rick Porcello: 16 2/3 IP, 7.56 ERA, 13.5 H9, 2.7 HR9, 2.2 BB9, 9.7 SO9
Last season’s Cy Young winner vs Bob McCown’s 2017 Cy Young prediction. Neither Rick Porcello or Francisco Liriano has been very good early in the season, so we could see another hit parade like we did last night. The Jays have, traditionally, hit Porcello very hard, whereas virtually nobody on the Sox has an extended viewing of Liriano. Advantage Blue Jays? Sure!
Housekeeping note: We aren’t going to be doing the postgame recaps anymore. According to site analytics, nobody seems to read them, so we’re going to be doing in-game content when interesting things happen, and pre- and post-series in-depth articles instead. We’ll see how this goes and then reassess postgame recaps and possible formats later on.
