Yesterday night featured another painful loss as the Blue Jays bats were completely silenced by Drew Pomeranz. To make matters worse, Aaron Sanchez was pulled from the game after four innings when his blister issue flared up again. Today, the Jays have a chance to earn a split, and thankfully they’re doing so without Chris Sale on the mound. Let’s be thankful for that.

News and Scuttlebutt

I mentioned the Blister That’s Ruined 2017 above, but here’s some more detail. They hope that the blister will callous over and Sanchez will be able to make his next start. If not, he could make his fourth DL stint of the season. My lord.

And now, the lineups…
Francisco Liriano: 6.04 ERA, 70.0 IP, 10.0 H9, 1.3 HR9, 5.0 BB9, 8.2 SO9
Doug Fister: 6.75 ERA, 17 1/3 IP, 10.4 H9, 1.6 HR9, 5.7 BB9, 7.8 SO9
Not having to face Chris Sale makes this game a hell of a lot more watchable. Doug Fister is, uh, well, a pretty fuckin’ massive downgrade on that front, but then again, who knows what version of Francisco Liriano we’re going to see today. Troy Tulowitzki is getting a day off and Ryan Goins will fill in a short, giving the Jays a prettttttttty ugly bottom part of the order. But still, it’s Doug Fister!
