Spring Training continues for the Blue Jays, who are fresh off a solid 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.
Today, they’ll face the Marcus Stroman-led Marcus Stroman. Toronto, meanwhile, will send Chris Bassitt, the Hound to the Mound.
It marks Bassitt’s second Spring Training appearance. He has pitched five innings in two games already. He’s faced 20 batters and allowed four hits and three walks while striking out one batter.
Bassitt will be a big piece of the Jays’ rotation again this year after a massive debut season in the Six. Now entering the second year of a three-year, $63-million deal, Bassitt went 16-8 across 33 stars, throwing a career-high 200 innings. With a 3.6 ERA and 118 ERA+, his ability to provide length for the Jays was huge, and will continue to be this season.
