The Tampa Bay Rays came into Toronto looking to set a Major League record for the best start to a season and now they’re looking to avoid getting swept.
The Blue Jays won the first two games of the series on Friday and Saturday thanks to strong starts from Jose Berrios and Yusei Kikuchi and now Alek Manoah will take the mound in the series finale.
Manoah has had a bit of a slow start to his season as he owns a 4.91 ERA through three starts. His last outing was the Blue Jays Home Opener and Manoah allowed three earned runs, all on a three-run homer, over four-and-one-third innings against the Detroit Tigers.
He’ll be going up against Shan McClanahan, Tampa’s ace. Through three starts this season, McClanahan has a 1.59 ERA and he hasn’t allowed a home run yet. McClanahan has made four starts against the Blue Jays in his big-league career and he’s 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:37 eastern time and it appears that the roof at the Rogers Centre will be open.
