The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees are set to meet for the fifth time this spring on Saturday afternoon.
The Jays have gone 2-2 in the games so far, and notably were the only team that Gerrit Cole made an appearance against on March 1st. For Cole, it was a rough start. He allowed three earned runs across 2.0 innings, allowing a 370-foot home run blast to Daniel Vogelbach.
“Yeah, what’s the day? Are we still in February? March 1st?,” Cole quipped, via MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. “Yeah, he enjoyed that homer.
“I don’t forget a lot of things.”
Cole won’t forget it, but for all the wrong reasons, as he has yet to appear in another spring training game and is dealing with an elbow issue could have him miss the first month or two of the season.
For the Jays today, they’re sending a strong group to the plate, while journeyman and minor-league signing Paolo Espino takes the mound.
