GDB 28.0: Blue Jays look to salvage something against Dodgers
By Zach Laing
2 hours agoFriday night’s game was less than ideal, to say the least.
Coming off a weird finish to the Jays’ series against the Royals in which the fourth game of the four-game set was called after five innings, Toronto had no juice coming home to face the Dodgers. Chris Bassitt got torn up by the L.A. offence, allowing seven earned runs off nine hits, three walks and two home runs, while the Blue Jays bats had absolutely no counter punch to Gavin Stone.
It won’t be much easier for them this afternoon, as they now have to square up against one of the best pitchers in the game this year, Tyler Glasnow, who has been electric since joining the Dodgers. The good news, if you can try to find some, is the fact the Jays have had some success against him in the past. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had beat up on Glasnow when he was with the Rays, with three hits, four walks and a home run against him in 12 plate appearances. It’s given Vladdy a .583 on-base percentage and a 1.333 OPS, so the Jays will need him to continue that to stay in this game.
