The Blue Jays and Yankees will conclude their four-game series in Toronto on Thursday.
This has been a drama-loaded series, ranging from a controversy over what Aaron Judge is looking at while he stands in the batter’s box to John Schneider calling somebody on the Yankees “fat boy.” New York took the first two games on Monday and Tuesday and then Danny Jansen hit a walk-off for the Blue Jays on Wednesday for their first win of the series.
The finale will go on Thursday between José Berríos and Nestor Cortes.
Berríos had a rough time in his first couple of outings of the season but he’s been strong since. Over his last six starts, Berríos owns a 2.97 ERA and he’s gone deeper than three innings in three of those outings. This will be Berríos’ first appearance against the Yankees this season.
Cortes was the breakout star in New York’s starting rotation last year but he’s struggled lately. He had outings against the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays in which he allowed seven and six earned runs and his ERA ballooned to 5.53. Cotres also hasn’t gone up against the Blue Jays this season.
