We’re in the middle of May and there’s already talk about the Blue Jays being sellers.
So much so that the team has reportedly talked to other teams about trades involving Bo Bichette and Vladimir Gurrero Jr., and ace Kevin Gausman admitted he knows that “if we don’t play well, this team will not be together for much longer.”
Winning cures all, but Toronto just can’t seem to do that. They’re 4-6 in their last 10, and their expected record of 19-28 is even worse than their actual record of 21-26, according to MLB.com. And on Tuesday night, they got shutout by the White Sox while managing all of… checks notes …two hits.
As far as bad losses go, this was one of the worst, and as manager John Schneider said after the game, sometimes you just have “to tip your hat” to a good pitcher. The problem is that it doesn’t matter if the pitcher is good or bad, the Blue Jays’ inability to show up runs rampant.
Tonight, they look to close out this three-game series with a win, taking on 24-year-old Nick Nastrini making his second big league start. Gulp.
