The Toronto Blue Jays start a new series on Monday against the National League Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers.
Over their last five games, the Blue Jays have won four of them, including winning their last two straight against the Oakland Athletics.
Recently-recalled Spencer Horwitz is seemingly getting a chance to play everyday, as he’ll make his third consecutive start at second base. After leading off Sunday’s game, he’ll drop down to the two-hole, batting behind his former roommate, Davis Schneider.
In the lead-off spot, Schneider hasn’t posted great numbers unfortunately. The 25-year-old is slashing .202/.284/.383 with three homers in 109 plate appearances (24 games) since moving to the top of the order.
Alejandro Kirk is back in the lineup, and the 25-year-old has all but become a backup player since Danny Jansen returned. After an abysmal start to his season when he was catching every day, Kirk is slashing .276/.371/.397 with a homer and four doubles in 70 plate appearances for a 124 wRC+.
Add on terrific defence behind the plate, including a much improved 34.6 caught stealing percentage, and he has settled into a nice role with the team. It’s to be seen if he ever hits like he did during the 2022 season, but Kirk certainly has value.
José Berríos will get the ball for the Blue Jays, this season he has a 2.80 ERA and a 4.41 FIP in 80.1 innings pitched this season. In his last start, he pitched six innings giving up two earned runs while walking three batters. Since his rough start against the Philadelphia Phillies, Berríos has a 2.73 ERA and a 4.33 FIP in 33 innings pitched.

First pitch: 8:10 PM EST
TV & Radio: Sportsnet One, SN 590
