The Toronto Blue Jays will look to avoid to lose their first series since May 23-26 on Tuesday.
They’ll play their second of three against the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin after falling 3-1 on Monday evening.
Davis Schneider is once again out of the lineup, the second time in three games that he won’t be starting for the Blue Jays. Hopefully, this isn’t another case of “we’re going to sit him every other day”, because while he’s been struggling with the fastball, he’s been one of the Blue Jays most productive hitters.
However, his production has tapered off in the lead-off spot. In 117 plate appearances, he’s slashing .186/.265/.353 with three homers for an 83 wRC+. It’ll be interesting to see what the Jays do with the 25-year-old as the season moves along.
Spencer Horwitz is in the lineup for his fourth consecutive game, leading off for the Blue Jays. He’s the exact type of guy you want to lead off, as he gets on base a ton and can hit a metric crap ton of doubles.
It’s a very, very brief sample size, but in his 12 plate appearances with the Jays, he has a .300 batting average with two walks and a strikeout, along with a 0.1 fWAR. Defensively at second-base, he’s been solid.
After hitting the Blue Jays’ only run on Monday, Alejandro Kirk is out of the lineup and is replaced by Danny Jansen, who is batting second. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will DH, while Justin Turner slots in at first base.
Yusei Kikuchi will start this game, the first time since his linebacker incident in extra innings during the final game in Oakland. On the other side of the ball, Carlos Rodriguez will make his first-ever big league start. Expect him to finish six shutout innings striking out seven.
