The Spencer Horwitz era is upon us.
On Sunday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays’ No. 18 prospect will draw in for his first game in the big leagues as the Jays close out a three-game set with the Texas Rangers. Toronto clawed out a 2-1 win on Friday in game one of the series, but dropped a tough 4-2 decision Saturday.
Now, with Horwitz batting eighth in the order, the Jays will look to close out this series with a win as they take on Jon Gray on the Rangers’ mound.
Horwitz’s season has been nothing short of tremendous for AAA Buffalo this season. He’s slashing .300/.421/.405 with two home runs across 259 plate appearances this season. He doesn’t have a ton of power with a .105 ISO this season, but he’s hitting for average and driving in runs with his 34 RBI’s ranking second to Davis Schneider.
Heading into this season, Horwitz was Blue Jays Nation’s sixth ranked prospect.
