Oh boy these jokes are going to old quickly. Anyways, Seung Hwan Oh finally got his work visa sorted out and made his Blue Jays debut this afternoon.
It’s been a weird couple month for the Korean reliever. He was originally slated to sign with the Texas Rangers, but that fell apart after he failed his physical. Then, after signing with the Jays, it took Oh a month to get his work visa sorted out. He’s just kind of been stranded in limbo unable to actually pitch in a real spring training game for his new team.
But it’s finally happened! Oh pitched today against the Philadelphia Phillies in relief of Marcus Stroman (who was also getting his first real outing because the one against the Canadian Junior Team doesn’t actually count). Oh came in and got Maikel Franco to pop out, Carlos Santana to ground out, and he struck out Aaron Altherr. He was hitting 93 on the gun, per Jayson Stark.
Seung Hwan Oh is a Blue Jay, ladies and gentlemen. He’ll be an interesting guy to follow this season given how good he was as recently as 2016 with the St. Louis Cardinals. Remember: This guy was known in Korea and Japan as The Final Boss so, fuck yeah.
