Re-live Game of of the 2015 ALDS with Jose Bautista

4 years agoI’ve re-watched this game a few times and I’ve re-watched the seventh inning more times than I care to admit and, honestly, it never gets old.
I still get anxious when Russell Martin throws the ball off of Shin-Soo Choo’s bat and Roughened Odor scrambles home from third. I still feel shocked every time that Elvis Andrus boots a ball in the field. I still cringe when Dalton Pompey takes out Chris Gimenez at the plate and Drew Bannister comes out to argue the play. I still get goosebumps when Jose Bautista takes the 1-1 from Dyson. I still crack up every time I watch Martin give two separate high fives to Bautista in the dugout during the celebration.
My commentary on the game isn’t all that interesting or unique, but I’m sure you’d all love to hear from the man himself. Jose Bautista appeared on Sportsnet’s Watch Party hosted by Hazel Mae, Arash Madani, and Shi Davidi.

“Everyone blacked out. I have no clue what was going through my mind. Everything became a blur. I was fully immersed in the moment, nothing was going through my brain other than paying attention to what was happening. I wasn’t trying to hit the record button. I was enjoying the moment, trying to take in the reaction. I was completely engulfed in that.“The most fun part for me is all the reactions of the guys and the faces of the fans.”“It definitely still gives me chills.“It’s one of those moments you never forget. As an athlete you’re fortunate enough to just be in one of those positions let alone do something for your team. What I enjoyed the most was just watching everyone else enjoy it.“This team had that special ‘It’ that most teams look for. It’s swagger, it’s confidence but at the same time it’s great camaraderie. Everyone was pulling for each other and knew there was a bigger goal in mind. It was a group that enjoyed being around each other.“I miss all of it. Toronto is like my second home and I wish I was still there.”

There’s plenty of good commentary beyond Bautista to listen to, including Harold Reynolds stepping back on his dumbass comment from Game 3 in which he said Canadian fans don’t know how to catch foul balls and umpire Dale Scott walking through what was going through his head in the top of the inning.
