Report: Blue Jays sign RHP Jake Petricka to MiLB deal

According to Robert Murray (formerly of The Athletic), the Blue Jays have signed reliever Jake Petricka to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training.
Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi confirmed Murray’s report, adding that Petricka will make $950,000 should he crack the major league roster. Scott Mitchell of TSN reports that Petricka can earn up to $400,000 in performance bonuses, presumably in addition to his base salary.
Petricka, 31, spent the 2019 season with the Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers, appearing in six MLB games. In 2018, he tossed 45.2 frames with the Blue Jays, pitching to an ERA of 4.53 and striking out 41.
Prior to his stint in Toronto, Petricka, a product of Indiana State University, spent parts of four seasons with the Chicago White Sox, tallying 178.0 frames and racking up 16 saves. Petricka will join bullpen hopefuls Anthony Bass, Ryan Dull, and Justin Miller in trying to break back into the big leagues this season.
A relatively versatile reliever, Petricka relies primarily on his sinker to get outs, also adding a changeup and slider to the mix. Currently, he sits tied for 88th place among active pitchers in saves.
