There is a transaction, ladies and gentleman.
According to the trusted Francys Romero, the Blue Jays are using $600,000 of their international signing pool bonus to sign Cuban outfielder Yorman Licourt. According to Romero, the 20-year-old stands at 6’4”, 205 lbs “with a bat that projects power”. He also noted that the Jays have $634,000 remaining in their international bonus pool money.
Licourt was born on February 6, 2004 and made his professional debut in the Cuban National Series for Vegueros de Pinar del Rio. He only played in nine games, but he slashed .238/.304/.286 with a double and six RBIs in 23 plate appearances. Moreover, he only struck out four times (17.4%) while walking 8.7% of the time.
He was by no means a superstar, but he was 10.1 years younger than the average position player, so he certainly held his own as a 19-year-old at the time. I’d expect Licourt to start his season in the Dominican Summer League when it kicks off in the summertime.

So far in the International Free Agency period, the Blue Jays have signed a handful of players to keep an eye on. While they haven’t signed a player of Enmanuel Bonilla’s calibre so far, Franklin Rojas, Angel Guzmán, and Andres Arias all ranked on MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 International Free Agents list.
Moreover, they were and still are expected to sign Kennew Blanco, who was ranked as the seventh-best available prospect in this year’s IFA class. However, the Blue Jays learned that he was 17 years old instead of 16, backing out of the $1.7 million deal they had in place. Still, it’s expected they’ll sign him during the 2025 IFA period.

As the year continues, expect the Blue Jays to sign a few more international free agent prospects, as the signing bonus pool doesn’t carry over each season.
