<p>The Toronto Blue Jays kicked off their weekend series with the Texas Rangers on a positive note.</p>

<p>Kevin Gausman had a strong start, the bullpen was rock solid, and Danny Jansen&#8217;s two-run home run was all the Blue Jays needed to edge out a 2-1 win.</p>

<li>The Blue Jays had a chance to give Kevin Gausman an extra day of rest with the day off on Monday but they bumped up his spot in the starting rotation so he&#8217;d be between Yusei Kikuchi and the bullpen day. Gausman carved up the Rangers for six innings and allowed only one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out four.</li>
<li>Gausman&#8217;s strong start sets the Blue Jays up nicely for their bullpen day tomorrow. Erik Swanson, Tim Mayza, and Jordan Romano to close out the game, so Nate Pearson and Trevor Richards will be fresh to pitch multiple innings alongside Bowden Francis on Saturday.</li>
<li>The pitching had a razor-thin margin for error in this game because the Blue Jays were lifeless offensively. They had just three hits in the entire game and both of their runs came on a two-run homer from Danny Jansen that came after Matt Chapman drew a walk. This is the second game in a row that Jansen has driven in all of Toronto&#8217;s runs. He hit two solo homers in their 4-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.</li>
