Who doesn’t love some Robert x2?

Just a quick recap of the mid-season list: We’ll look at the players stats, my observations, and finally other publications (Prospects Live, MLB Pipeline, Baseball America) scouting reports.
Today, we’ll look at Robert Robertis, an outfielder who I pegged to have a breakout season.
<h2>Getting to know Robert Robertis…</h2>
Position: Outfielder
Bats: Left
Born: November 29, 2002
Acquired: 2019 International Free Agency
Current Team: FCL Blue Jays
Previous Ranking: 35
The 20-year-old outfielder hasn’t had a great season in the lower minors. He started the season with the Single-A Blue Jays, where he slashed .185/.282/.232 in 195 plate appearances with a homer. He also walked 11.3% of the time, but struggled with the strikeouts as he has a 29.7 K% at the level.
Robertis hasn’t performed well in the Florida Complex League either, slashing .179/.314/.214 with one double in 35 plate appearances. His BB% has drastically increased to 17.1%, while his K% dropped to 25.7%.
It’s not all doom and gloom though, as Robertis had a great 2022. In the FCL as a 19-year-old, he slashed .290/.353/.402 with no homers in 119 plate appearances, along with a 9.2 BB% and a 20.2 K%. He struggled in 20 plate appearances with the Dunedin Blue Jays, but he was a late season addition to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, where he had a .294/.294/.706 slash line with two homers in just 17 plate appearances.

Robertis has a fluid swing with quick bat speed. While he hasn’t connected for much in-game power, he may be good for 10 or so homers every season in the future as he fills out his frame. Stats aside, he has a fringe-average hit tool at the moment, as hitting .290 with nine extra base hits in 119 plate appearances is no joke. Defensively, he has okay range in the outfield and good instincts, while his arm is also average.
Right now, Robertis’ stock is the lowest it’s ever been. However, he won’t turn 21 until late November, meaning he still has time to figure it out and turn it around. Regardless, he’ll have to show an above-average tool over the next few seasons.
