Alejandro Kirk may have pulled out of the World Baseball Classic, but a new Blue Jay is going.
It was announced by Baseball Canada’s Twitter account that Blue Jays prospect Dasan Brown would be attending the World Baseball Classic.
Last season, the 21-year-old outfielder spent time with the Low-A Dunedin Blue Jays and the High-A Vancouver Canadians. Between the two levels, he had a .283/.383/.420 slash line with six homers in 360 plate appearances. Moreover, Brown hit three homers in three post season games for the Vancouver Canadians, although that isn’t accounted for.
The Oakville, Ontario native had a 131 wRC+ season, which ranked as the seventh highest in the organization with a minimum of 200 plate appearances.
Last season, Brown put it all together and had a mini-breakout season. He developed his power stroke, but also managed to hit for an impressive average (his .283 batting average was a jump from a .212 in 2021.)

Brown will join fellow Blue Jays prospects Damiano Palmegiani and Otto López for team Canada. In total, nine Blue Jays players are attending the World Baseball Classic, which starts on March 7th. You can read more about who is attending in this article here.
