One of the fastest rising prospects in the Jays organization is getting the call to Triple-A.
According to Jays Journal’s Eric Treuden, Leo Jimenez has been called up to the Buffalo Bisons.
The 22-year-old shortstop has had a fantastic year in Double-A, slashing .287/.372/.436 with a career-high eight home runs in 333 plate appearances. He ranks as MLB Pipeline’s sixth-best prospect, but that’s not even the highest ranking he’s had.
In 2021, the then 20-year-old slashed an insane .315/.517/.381 with one homer (his first one professionally) in 242 plate appearances. His insane 21.1 BB% was big reason why he got on base over half the time, but he was also hit with 21 pitches.
Fast forwarding to 2023, the shortstop has already surpassed his career home run total coming into the season (seven), which has helped rise his stock tremendously. Not just that, but Jimenez has one of the best hit tools in the organization, while he’s likely to stick at shortstop.

Jimenez was added to the 40-man roster after the 2021 season, meaning that he’ll only have one option year remaining to start next season.
Triple-A will be a big test for the 22-year-old, but his ascent in 2023 has been nothing short of fantastic. Hopefully he can make a good impression with the Bisons when he gets in the lineup.
