The Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams interested in Ryan McMahon of the Colorado Rockies, <a href="https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/1795808837448216840">according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network</a>.

McMahon, a left-handed infielder who plays second and third base, has been Colorado&#8217;s best hitter this season. Through 54 games in 2024, the 29-year-old is slashing a .286/.366/.483 line with 10 home runs, 10 doubles, and 33 runs driven in.
Selected in the second round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of high school in California, McMahon made his debut with the Rockies in August of 2017. He split the 2018 season between the Rockies and their Triple-A affiliate, the Albuquerque Isotopes, before establishing himself as a full-time Major Leaguer in 2019.
For his career, McMahon has made 3,012 plate appearances at the big-league level and has a .246 batting average, .759 on-base plus slugging percentage, 114 home runs, and 858 strikeouts compared to 311 walks.
The Rockies are among the worst teams in baseball this season with a putrid 19-35 record, though Morosi added that it&#8217;s &#8220;highly unlikely&#8221; the team will make McMahon available ahead of this year&#8217;s trade deadline. McMahon is eligible to become a free agent following the 2027 season, so Colorado is in no rush to make a move.
Given the team&#8217;s poor start to the season, there&#8217;s been more talk about <a href="https://publish.bluejaysnation.com/2024/05/23/who-could-the-blue-jays-move-if-they-decide-to-be-sellers-ahead-of-the-trade-deadline/">who the Blue Jays might sell this summer</a> rather than who they might buy. That being said, the Blue Jays could consider taking a hybrid approach to this year&#8217;s trade deadline, in which they move pending free agents to contending teams to restock their prospect system while also looking to add established players with multiple years of control.
The team let Matt Chapman walk as a free agent last winter and utility player Isiah Kiner-Falefa has done a solid job filling his spot at the hot corner. Adding McMahon would give the Blue Jays a stronger bat for third base and it would allow the team to use Kiner-Falefa all around the diamond.
