<p>The Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox were deadlocked at 0-0 after 10 innings of play on Thursday afternoon before the floodgates opened. Toronto rallied for six runs in the top of the 11th inning and matched a team record for most runs scored in a single extra inning.</p>

<p>At a glance, this didn&#8217;t seem like a game in which the Blue Jays would have a difficult time scoring runs as Lance Lynn, Chicago&#8217;s starting pitcher, came in with a 6.47 ERA for the season. But, as this team has done many times this season, the Blue Jays made a struggling pitcher look like a Cy Young candidate, as Lynn surrendered just one hit and struck out 11 batters over seven innings.</p>
<p>José Berríos matched Lynn with an excellent start of his own. He went seven innings, allowed one hit and one walk, and struck out six. After Berríos came out of the game, Trevor Richards threw two scoreless frames and Jordan Romano worked around the ghost runner in the bottom of the 10th.</p>
<p>The Blue Jays came into the 11th inning with just one hit all game. After Alejandro Kirk led off the inning with a strikeout, the Blue Jays rattled off six singles in a row to take a 4-0 lead. Cavan Biggio then hit a double down the third-base line to extend Toronto&#8217;s lead to 6-0.</p>

<p>Thomas Hatch came in for the bottom of the 11th inning but wasn&#8217;t able to finish off the game. He allowed an earned run on a couple of hits and a walk and Yimi Garcia had to come in and record the final two outs. Garcia only had to throw six pitches so he could still be available for the second leg of the doubleheader.</p>
