<p>Blue Jays manager John Schneider said on Monday morning in Dunedin that top prospect Ricky Tiedemann has been shut down for a couple of days because of left shoulder soreness. The expectation is that Tiedemann will be back on the mound throwing on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Tiedemann made his 2023 debut back on February 28 when he tossed a clean frame against the Detroit Tigers and struck out two batters. His next appearance against the Pittsburgh Pirates one week later didn&#8217;t go quite so well, as the lefty went two innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two.</p>
<p>Being shut down for a couple of days with a sore shoulder while trying to warm up in March doesn&#8217;t seem like much of a big deal but given the way things have snowballed in the past for arms like Aaron Sanchez and Nate Pearson with seemingly minor injuries, Blue Jays fans are right to be holding their breath a little bit.</p>
<p>The Blue Jays selected Tiedemann in the third round of the 2021 draft and he rocketed up to the top of their prospect chart in little over one year. Tiedemann spent the 2022 season between High-A Vancouver, Double-A New Hampshire, and Triple-A Buffalo and posted a 2.17 ERA over 18 starts while striking out 13.4 batters per nine innings.</p>
<p>The hope for 2023 is that he can have a strong showing with the Bisons and come up and contribute to the Blue Jays at some point during the season, either as a starter or as a reliever.</p>
