According to Red Sox beat writer Chris Cotillo, Sale broke his wrist while riding his bike. It apparently happened last Saturday and it was his right wrist.

This season has been nothing short of a disaster for him. In February, he suffered a stress fracture in his ribs on his right side and was placed on the 60-day IL. He started a rehab stint in early July, and on the 7th a video captured him destroying items in the dugout after issuing five walks and allowing one run across 3.2 IP.
He returned to the lineup in the bigs on July 12, but five days later he took a line drive right off his left hand breaking a finger. Now, his season is over after throwing 5.2 innings across two games.

The Red Sox remain in the hunt for an AL Wild Card spot but they&#8217;re sitting 4.5 games back of the Seattle Mariners. To be fair, I have a hard time imagining them making any sort of noise.
According to Baseball Reference, they have just a 5.6% chance of making the postseason. After going 48-45 in the first half of the year with a +18 run differential, they&#8217;ve fallen off a cliff in the second half winning six of 17 games with a awful -48 run differential.
The Jays continue to sit in a good spot in the Wild Card race two games up.
