On Tuesday, the Blue Jays were soundly defeated by the Texas Rangers 6-3. With this loss, they have fallen half a game behind the Rangers, and could fall behind the Seattle Mariners if they win on Tuesday evening.

Davis Schneider went 2-4 with a double and a home run. Coming into every single game, fans must be thinking “this is the game where Davis Schneider is stopped”, but there is no stopping this freight train, baby.

Cavan Biggio declined after his first two seasons, but is having a career renaissance in 2023, slashing .232/.332/.391 with an 11.1 BB% and a 27.3 K% and nine homers in 271 plate appearances. This is his first season since 2020 where he’s had a wRC+ over 100, as it now sits at 103 (and climbing). Good stuff.

Erik Swanson made his return from the Injured List on Tuesday, finishing with a line of 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K. Happy to have him back.
Spencer Horwitz went 1-3 with a strikeout on a pitch he was hit with. His hit, a double, was about five feet down from being his second career home run. With Brandon Belt’s injury, Horwitz may get a lot more playing time at first base.

When Blue Jays fans wake up tomorrow, they could be out pending the outcome of the Seattle Mariners game. Both Texas and Seattle have the tiebreaker against the Jays, meaning the Jays need to win some damn baseball games. The two teams will play on Wednesday at 7:07 PM EST, before wrapping up the four-game set on Thursday at the same time.
