What a redemption season it has been for Eric Pardinho.

The 23-year-old earned a promotion to Triple-A on Tuesday, according to multiple sources.

It’s been a heck of a season for the Brazilian right-handed pitcher. With the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Pardinho has a 1.01 ERA and a 2.25 FIP in 26.2 innings pitched, with a 34.9 K% and a 9.4 BB% with a save.
However, if you have been reading the Minor League Reports, you’ll know that Pardinho has pitched 17 consecutive games without giving up an earned run. Since April 24, Pardinho’s ERA sits at 0 with a 1.73 FIP in 22 innings pitched. He has a phenomenal 40 K%, while his BB% of 11.3% sits on the high side. He’s held batters to a .070 average and also has a 0.64 WHIP.
Signed in 2017 for a bonus of $1.4 million, Pardinho broke onto the scene in the Dominican Summer League in 2018, posting a 2.88 ERA and a 3.75 FIP in 50 innings pitched, along with a 31.5 K% and a 7.9 B% as a starter. Heading into 2019, he landed on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects list in the 98th spot.

Up until the 2024 season, the 2019 season was Pardinho’s best. Between “A” and the Gulf Coast League, Pardinho posted a 2.15 ERA in 37.2 innings pitched, but then the injuries happened. In early 2020 before the pandemic hit, Pardinho received Tommy John surgery, having complications upon his return during the 2021 season.
Towards the end of the 2022 season, Pardinho returned and pitched 30 innings with a 5.70 ERA and a 4.35 FIP with the Florida Complex League Blue Jays, Single-A Dunedin, and High-A Vancouver. However, his 2023 season with the High-A Vancouver Canadians was worrisome, posting a 7.15 ERA and a 5.36 FIP in 56.2 innings pitched.  Pardinho has seemingly figured it out in the upper-minors, receiving a well deserved promotion.
With all that being said, despite the rough years following the 2019 season, Pardinho was once a top 100 prospect for a reason, and at this rate, it’s only a matter of time before he’ll be on the Blue Jays.
