Last night wasn’t the best way to greet the home fans on the road. Tonight, Marcus Stroman will go up against Ariel Miranda looking to avoid going into the hole for the second series in a row.
News and Scuttlebutt
Some good new injury on the injury front as the sorta forgotten Steve Pearce could be ready to return next week. Gibby says he “hopes” Pearce is ready to go by next weekend at the latest. He hadn’t been swinging the bat particularly well, posting a .629 OPS through 90 plate appearances, but Pearce will be a welcomed addition to a lineup that’s having a hell of a time hitting lefty pitching.

Ariel Miranda: 67 2/3 IP, 3.74 ERA, 7.4 H9, 1.3 HR9, 3.2 BB9, 8.2 SO9
We saw Ariel Miranda back in May when the Mariners came to Toronto. He was solid, but struggled with command, managing to hold the Jays to three runs over five innings of work. That’s kind of been the theme with Miranda all season. If he’s locating well, he can be effective deep into games. If not, he’s all over the grid and labours to make it through five. Marcus Stroman, on the other hand, has been ridiculously consistent recently. He’s made it at least five-and-two-thirds in six starts in a row, including nine shutout performance against the Mariners.
