The Blue Jays will play the role of villains this week as they roll into Texas to the play the Rangers, the team who, as we all surely remember, got has been dropped in back-to-back American League Division Series.
The last time the Jays were in Texas…?
The last time these two teams played a regular season game in Texas…?
So expect some fireworks, possibly!
News and Scuttlebutt
The big news of the day was that Joe Smith, the Jays eighth inning guy, has been placed on the 10-day DL with shoulder inflammation. I just, ugh. I can’t even. The injury luck this season has been horrific. Smith will hit the DL, Ryan Tepera and Danny Barnes will get more reps in high leverage situations, and Leonel Campos has been added to the roster as depth. All of the information is in the article below.

And now, the lineups…
Blue Jays
Starting our road trip with a 4-game series vs. the Rangers. Here's tonight's lineup pres. by @MajesticOnField. atmlb.com/2otPGEX
Marco Estrada: 81 1/3 IP, 4.45 ERA, 9.6 H9, 1.4 HR9, 2.2 BB9, 10.2 SO9
Rangers
Rangers kick the week off with the Blue Jays starting tonight at 7:05 pm on FSSW & 105.3 The Fan. Game Preview: atmlb.com/2sLwXXJ
Austin Bibens-Dirkx: 24 2/3 IP, 3.28 ERA, 6.6 H9, 1.5 HR9, 2.6 BB9, 4.7 SO9
Estrada has had a rough go recently, but he’s been excellent against the Rangers over his career. He’s posted two excellent starts in Texas in the playoffs, and he showed well against them when they came to Toronto back in May. Bibens-Dirkx used to be a Blue Jays farmhand, and is making just the third start of his major league career tonight.
