After splitting Monday’s doubleheader, the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles will continue their four-game series on Tuesday with a game that’s scheduled to start shortly after Major League Baseball’s trade deadline.

The Blue Jays traded Yimi Garcia, Nate Pearson, Danny Jansen, Justin Turner, and Yusei Kikuchi before Tuesday and have a handful of players who could be on the move ahead of the deadline. Trevor Richards is on his way to the Minnesota Twins and both Chad Green and Isiah Kiner-Falefa have drawn interest from other clubs.

Another Blue Jay who drew trade interest from contending teams was veteran starter Chris Bassitt, who’s set to take the mound in Baltimore. The innings-munching right-hander is in the second season of his three-year contract with the Blue Jays and has a 3.67 ERA over 54 starts thus far in his tenure with the team. Toronto’s front office ultimately decided they were better off keeping Bassitt for their retool in 2025 than they were moving him for more young talent.

Going for the Orioles will be ace Corbin Burnes, who the team acquired in the off-season from the Milwaukee Brewers. The 2021 National League Cy Young winner has been excellent in his first season in Baltimore, as he has 1 2.45 ERA over 21 starts in 2024. Burnes has faced the Blue Jays twice this season, once in May and again a few weeks later in June, and has held them to two earned runs over 13 innings.
