The Toronto Blue Jays got the best of the New York Yankees Friday night, chasing Marcus Stroman from the game earlier and racking up the runs.
New Kid On The Block Joey Loperfido played a big part in it, going two-for-five at the plate including a first-inning triple that helped open the scoring. Contributions all through the lineup, however, were also key for the Jays, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Spencer Horwitz, Ernie Clement and Brian Serven all having multi-hit performances. They weathered return strikes from the Pinstripes, and ultimately held them off the board from the sixth inning on.
The Jays will look to replicate that success Saturday afternoon, as Jose Berrios squares up opposite Carlos Rodon. Toronto gets Alejandro Kirk back in the lineup, who missed the last two games after getting hit by a pitch on his left elbow on Tuesday against the Orioles.
