Oh, joy. Another series against the Orioles.
Despite racking up 14 runs across three games against the Yankees, it wasn’t enough for the Blue Jays to come out on top, winning Game 1 of the series before dropping the final two, including getting walked off in the third game. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continued to stay hot, as Ernie Clement and Spencer Horwitz played their part in helping lead the offence.
Now, the Jays are hosting the Baltimore Orioles for the final series of the year between the two sides. Toronto is down 4-6 in the season series so far, and it’s hard to imagine them overcoming it. A big reason why? Their 4-6 record this year is in line with what we’ve seen in the last two years. Combining their record over the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the Jays have gone 13-19 against Baltimore, a .406 winning percentage, right in line with this season.
There’s still lots to cheer for when it comes to the Jays through the remainder of the campaign, however. Guerrero Jr. will continue to be the talk of the town if he can keep his red-hot ways up, while the youth will undoubtedly be something to keep an eye on. Tonight, for example, the Jays will have Joey Loperfido batting second and Spencer Horwitz hitting cleanup, as the team continues to examine their best fits now and in the future.
