The Blue Jays are back at Wrigley Field Saturday afternoon for their second of three-day games against the Cubs.
It’s a definite change of pace for the Jays, who have few and far between day games, let alone three in a row. Nonetheless, with a strong contingent of fans in the Windy City, the Jays look to build on a game in which they had a shaky start and a big eighth inning, but eventually got walked off by a Seiya Suzuki single in the bottom of the ninth.
Chris Bassitt takes the mound for the Blue Jays, looking to bounce back off a disastrous performance against the Oakland Athletics last Sunday, allowing seven earned runs off eight hits across just four full innings. It’s been a worry trend, who since the start of July has allowed four or more earned runs in four of seven starts. His ERA over the time sits at 7.12, allowing a .300 batting average and a .865 OPS to opposing hitters, and he seemingly can’t find his game.
Hopefully, Saturday’s start changes things.
