The Toronto Blue Jays are rolling a bullpen day out Thursday as they open a four-game set against the Los Angeles Angels, trotting Ryan Burr to the mound.
Burr, 30, was purchased by the Jays from the Philadelphia Phillies on May 30th of this year, appearing in 19 games this season. He’s thrown 18 and one-third innings, posting a 5.40 ERA and a 3.38 FIP. He’s got strikeout stuff, fanning 29.5 percent of the batters he’s faced while walking them at a 10 percent clip.
Largely a two-pitch pitcher, offering a mid-90s fastball and a slider, a lot of his success comes in thanks to the extension he gets off the mound, which according to Baseball-Savant, is in the 92nd percentile.
The club will likely deploy Ryan Yarbrough as a long reliever on Thursday, hoping he can eat a big chunk of innings. He pitched last on Saturday, so with four days of rest, he should be ready to go deep into this game. Given Zach Pop and Erik Swanson each threw 30 and 29 pitches Wednesday, they’ll likely be unavailable. The only other pitcher likely available for any length will be Tommy Nance, given both Genesis Cabrera and Chad Green were used Wednesday, as well.
The Angels appear ready for a bullpen day of their own, given they have no listed starter as of the time of writing.

First pitch: 7:07 p.m. EST.
