Toronto is seeing their season slip away from them as they continue on a terrible stretch that has seen them drop seven of their last eight games all against AL East opponents. They have three more games down in the Trop against the Rays, and even just coming out of this four-game set at .500 would be huge for them right now.
Chris Bassitt said after the Jays&#8217; loss Monday the team can&#8217;t panic.
&#8220;We’re losing a couple of games, so it’s like we need to try harder,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Now, more mistakes happen because you’re trying harder. No, just go and play your game.&#8221;
The truth of the matter is that the Jays&#8217; game just hasn&#8217;t been good enough. Don&#8217;t force things, sure, but how many at-bats over this stretch have we seen where they have runners in scoring position, or the damn bases are loaded, and they&#8217;ve failed to drive in a single run? The answer is far too many.
