It’s largely been a sparkling year for Jose Berrios.
He’s been among the best starters in the American League this season, but saw a dip in his numbers due to a poor start on May 7th against the Phillies. He’s bounced back well, going 1-0 in his last two starts while allowing just five earned runs across 13 innings against the Orioles and White Sox over the past two weeks.
Berrios’ success this year is nothing to scoff at, and even though his numbers have been elevated from his last three starts, he’s clearly been a man on a mission this year, looking to rebound from whatever you want to call last year’s playoffs.
This afternoon, he’ll look to do so against a Detroit Tigers club that put up a six-spot on Alek Manoah Friday, clearly looking for a bounce back after getting shelled in Game 1 of the series. Detroit will counter Berrios with Reese Olson, who despite posting a 2.16 ERA, is 0-5 on the season.
