There’s nothing like the annual pilgrimage to Seattle, where Canadian Blue Jays fans trek south of the 49th to visit the Emerald City.
The Toronto Blue Jays have landed in Seattle and are hoping to give fans something to cheer about coming off a rough series against the Astros in which they dropped two of three.
Kevin Gausman will take the mound looking to best a Mariners club who, much like the Blue Jays, know a thing or two about struggling this season. While they’re still a solid 48-41, playing above .500, but having serious struggles at the plate this season. Star outfielder Julio Rodriguez is a part of it, with his OPS falling from .818 last year down to .632 this season, something that’s seen in others like Cal Raleigh (.762 -> .672) and J.P. Crawford (.818 -> .662).
Newcomers in Jorge Polanco (.798 -> .576) and Mitch Garver (.824 -> .720), who the Mariners hoped would help push them forward offensively, have yet to do so. Meanwhile, the team strikes out at the highest rate in baseball.
It’s not to say this is a team to be taken lightly,
