The furious winds of the Oracle Park outfield did more than just affect deep drives Tuesday night, as the San Francisco Giants took the wind out of the sails of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Yusei Kikuchi pitched a dime for the Jays, going seven and one-third innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out a career-high 13 batters. Nate Pearson entered the game, getting two outs for the Jays, holding a 3-2 lead heading into the ninth inning.
The Jays couldn’t get any insurance runs in the top of the inning, and Trevor Richards entered in search of the save. The only problem? He would blow it, eventually letting the Giants walk it off with a wild pitch. Yes, you read that right. A wild pitch.
The good news is the outing will only help solidify Kikuchi’s value in the market, but the bad news is that it’s just another demoralizing loss among many this season.
Tonight, Chris Bassitt looks to steer the ship to victory opposite of Logan Webb.
