<p>Following Friday&#8217;s shutout loss, the Blue Jays bounced back with a 4-3 win over the Reds to even the weekend series at one game each.</p>
<h2>Things worth mentioning&#8230;</h2>
<ul>
<li>The Blue Jays snapped an 18-run scoreless skid in the top of the fourth inning thanks to a two-out rally from the bottom of the order. Cavan Biggio singled, Santiago Espinal walked, Daulton Varsho singled, Whit Merrifield singled, and Bo Bichette picked up his first hit since coming off of the Injured List to make the score 3-0.</li>
<li>Chris Bassitt cruised through the first three innings but allowed three runs in the bottom of the fourth just after Toronto had taken the lead. TJ Friedl hit a solo bomb to put the Reds on the board, Matt McLain walked, and then Elly De La Cruz smashed a ball off of the right field wall and turned on the jets to score a little league-style inside-the-park homer. It would have been a triple, but De La Cruz scored after Biggio&#8217;s throw went over the cutoff guy and rolled through the infield.</li>

<li>The Blue Jays grabbed the lead back in the top of the fifth inning when Davis Schneider hit a solo bomb to deep left centre field. Schneider had only started twice since his huge debut series in Boston earlier this month but was kept on the roster when Bichette was activated as the Blue Jays instead opted to part ways with Paul DeJong. He was the designated hitter and slotted in fifth in the lineup and made a nice case to see more playing time.</li>
<li>Trevor Richards came into the game for the seventh inning and allowed two hits while recording only one out but Tim Mayza came in and escaped the jam. Jordan Hicks threw a clean eighth inning and Jordan Romano worked around a single, a walk, and a double steal to pick up his 30th save of the season.</li>
