The Toronto Blue Jays&#8217; win streak has been extended to three games.

On Tuesday evening, the Blue Jays played the second of three games against the Washington Nationals, defeating them 5-3 to move to 4-2 this season. Let’s take a look at what happened in this game!

The bottom of the second was the Blue Jays’ best inning of the game. Andrés Giménez started it off with a single, followed by Alejandro Kirk’s single to put runners on the corners with no outs. George Springer drove them in to open the scoring. Two batters later, Ernie Clement hit a ground out for the force out, followed by Alan Roden’s infield single to drive in the third run.

In the top of the sixth, Keibert Ruiz hit a two-run single to make it a 3-2 lead, followed by CJ Abrams&#8217; double in the top of the seventh to tie the game at three. Thankfully, the game was won in the bottom of the eighth, as Bo Bichette drove in George Springer and Will Wagner to take the 5-3 lead.

The Blue Jays had an impressive 12 hits in this game, but none of them were of the extra-base variety. Five players had a two-hit in this game: Bo Bichette, Alejandro Kirk, George Springer, Will Wagner, and Alan Roden. The other two players with a hit were Anthony Santader and Andrés Giménez.
With Springer swinging a hot bat, the Blue Jays&#8217; lineup looks great. His hot streak needs to be sustained for an extended period of time; however, this is very encouraging early sign.
There were only two starters without a hit, Ernie Clement (who had an RBI) and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The Blue Jays’ superstar first baseman hasn’t had a great start to the season, and neither has Anthony Santander. They need to get going as soon as possible.
José Berríos had a much better start than last Thursday, pitching 5.2 innings with two earned runs allowed while walking three and striking out eight. He was an out away from giving the Blue Jays’ starters their fourth quality start in six games.
Yariel Rodríguez gave up an earned run in his inning of work. Mason Fluharty made his big league debut, allowing a double that tied the game and gave him a blown save. Chad Green finished the inning for Fluharty, striking out the batter he saw. Jeff Hoffman picked up his second save of the season.

The Jays will have a chance to sweep the series on Wednesday at 3:07 PM ET. Mackenzie Gore starts for the Nationals, while the Blue Jays starter is yet to be announced. However, it’s expected it’ll be Easton Lucas.
