Is Easton Lucas the answer?

On Tuesday evening, the Toronto Blue Jays played the second of four games against the Boston Red Sox, defeating them 6-1 to move to 7-5 for the season. Let’s take a look at what happened in this game!

It took a while to get a run on the board for the Blue Jays, but it was the hot George Springer who opened the scoring in the top of the sixth, as he hit his second home run of the season to put the Jays up 1-0. In the same inning, Tyler Heineman hit a single with an error that allowed another run to score.

Still in the top of the sixth, Bo Bichette hit a two-run single to make it a 4-0 game. The Blue Jays&#8217; shortstop had a fantastic game, although the Red Sox answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the seventh.
In the top of the eighth, Bichette hit his second RBI single to put the Jays up 5-1. To put it out of reach, Anthony Santander hit a ground out that scored Heineman for the 6-1 lead.

Easton Lucas made his second start of the season, and it went even better than his first start. In five and a third innings, the left-handed pitcher struck out eight, walked one, and allowed three hits to keep his ERA at 0.

On top of that, relievers also had a solid game once Lucas was lifted. Chad Green threw two-thirds of an inning with a hit and a strikeout. Yariel Rodríguez gave up the lone earned run, but Brendon Little got him out of the inning with a strikeout. Mason Fluharty threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout, and Jacob Barnes got the final three outs.
Bo Bichette had a great game, going 3-4 with a walk to bring his season batting average to .314. He’s been the only player in the top third of the Jays’ lineup who has consistently produced so far this season.
George Springer stayed hot, going 2-4 with a walk and a strikeout. More importantly, though, he hit his second home run of the season to give the Blue Jays a lead they’d never relinquish.  Stay hot, Springer.
Tyler Heineman has sneakily had a good start to his season as well, hitting two singles in four plate appearances in this game, adding a walk to bring his season average to .429. Myles Straw hit a single and scored twice.
The Jays have a chance to win their second series of the season on Wednesday, as the two teams kick off the action at 6:45 PM ET. Kevin Gausman starts for the Blue Jays.
