The Toronto Blue Jays are now in the midst of a season-high six-game losing streak.

On Sunday, they faced off against the Cleveland Guardians for the third and final time, looking to avoid their second-consecutive sweep. Despite leading early, the Jays fell 6-5 to the Guardians, moving their season record to 35-42.
Spencer Horwitz drew a walk in the lead-off spot, teeing up Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to go deep for the ninth time this season, and the second time in the series to give the Jays an early 2-0. Cleveland cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first thanks to a David Fry single.

The Blue Jays would regain their two-run lead in the top of the third, as Horwitz hit his first home run of the season. He’s been nothing short of terrific since his call-up, and he’s quickly becoming a must-watch player on a not-so-great Jays team.

Prior to a rain delay, the Guardians loaded the bases with no outs, before Daniel Shneemann drove in their second run with a ground ball up the middle. Thanks to the rain delay, starter Yuesi Kikuchi was unable to work his way out of the jam, and the Guardians would score two more runs in this inning thanks to a walk with the bases loaded and a ground into a double play.

The Guardians would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, as Steven Kwan hit his seventh home run of the season while Canadian Josh Naylor hit his 20th home run of the season, the latter being the game-winning run.

Horwitz once again led off the inning, and he once again hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 6-4. Fellow Bison callup, Addison Barger, hit a single that scored another run to make it 6-5, but that’s all the Jays would get in scoring.

<h2>Things worth mentioning…</h2>
Spencer Horwitz had his best game as a big leaguer. Not only did he hit two home runs, a career-high, but walked to score a run, and drew a walk on a 12-pitch at-bat against the league’s best reliever, Emmanuel Clase. On top of all that, he made two great defensive plays at second base.

Justin Turner has sneakily been one of the Blue Jays best hitters in the month of June, having another good game on Sunday. He walked three times and had two hits, reaching base all five times he appeared. Can’t really complain about what he&#8217;s done in recent times.
Yusei Kikuchi had a rough game, but a rain and a delay really screwed him. Overall, he finished with a line of 2 + IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K to bring his season ERA to 4 along with a 4-7 record. Still, he’s been one of the team’s best pitchers.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a solid day, hitting his ninth home run while also hitting a single. His last plate appearance against Clase was a three-pitch strikeout, but the umpire allowed a quick pitch, and then had a terrible call off the plate. He’s been solid for the Jays this season.
Trevor Richards struck out a batter in his two innings pitched to bring his season ERA to 2.70. The righty isn’t a perfect pitcher by any means, but if he continues to pitch the way he has, he’ll get a nice little haul at the deadline..
Up next: The Blue Jays look to snap their six-game losing streak on Monday, as they’ll head to Boston to play at Fenway Park for the first time this season. They are seven games below .500, a season low, while their six-game losing streak is their worst of the season. Please sell.
