Mike Bolsinger Placed On 10-Day DL, Joe Smith Not Ready To Return

While I had my head buried writing his Blue Jays Extra Innings Hall of Fame Induction Post, Mike Bolsinger was put on the 10-day disabled list with left knee inflammation.
Bolsinger, as we know, carved through Boston’s lineup for three-and-one-third innings before allowing a walk-off bomb to Hanley Ramirez in the bottom of the 15th. It was likely his best showing as a member of the Blue Jays, but it’s resulted in him having to hit the disabled list.
Coming up in Bolsinger’s spot will be Cesar Valdez, who has pitched well for Triple-A Buffalo. It was expected Joe Smith was going to be activated today, but as Shi Davidi reports, the sidewinder needs another rehab start before he’s ready to go. It’s expected Smith will join the team this weekend in Cleveland.
When that happens, I imagine Valdez will be sent back down. Then, when Bolsinger is ready to come off of the disabled list, the team will have to choose between putting him through waivers for a third time or optioning someone like Dominic Leone.
