Once again, the Blue Jays affiliates split their four games.

On Wednesday, two Blue Jays affiliates shut out their opposition, with the other two teams falling, one in a close game and another in a blowout.
Let’s dig into the latest edition of the Minor League Report:
<h2>Buffalo blown out</h2>
The Buffalo Bisons played an early game Wednesday afternoon, falling 14-5 to Indianapolis, Pittsburgh’s Triple-A affiliate.
Despite the massive loss, there were certainly some positives from this game. For example, Orelvis Martinez hit his organization-leading eighth home run of the season. At this point, it’s only a matter of time before he’s called up, because he also had two singles to bring his batting average to .310.

Steward Berroa also had a multi-hit performance and hit one of three home runs on the day, this being his second of the season. This season, the centre fielder has a 134 wRC+ in 55 plate appearances, definitely a player worth monitoring because he’s also 12/14 in stolen base attempts.

The last home run was hit by Damiano Palmegiani, who hit his second home run in as many days. It’s a bit unusual for Palemgiani to start slow at any given level, but since April 11, he’s slashing .284/.360/.552 with five homers in 67 plate appearances for a 131 wRC+.

On top of the home runs, there were also a handful of doubles hit. Payton Henry was one of four players with a multi-hit game, as he had a double and a single. Spencer Horwitz had a terrific game, going 3-5 with two doubles to bring his season batting average up to .348. The other player with a double was Rafael Lantigua, while Luis De Los Santos had the other Bisons’ hit.
Paolo Espino had a rough start, giving up eight runs (four earned) in an inning and two thirds pitched. Luis Quiñones didn’t fare much better, finishing with a line of 2.2 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K. Andrew Bechtold also had a rough outing, giving up an earned run and three walks in an inning.
Fitz Stadler had his best outing yet, striking out three and walking two batters in an inning and two thirds, while Hagen Danner finished the game giving up one hit in an inning pitched.
<h2>New Hampshire shuts out the Patriots</h2>
Like the Bisons, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats had double-digit hits, but won their game against the Somerset Patriots 7-0 to bring their record to 10-13. This boosted them to fourth in the Eastern League Northeast division
What immediately sticks out from this game is Alan Roden’s 3-5 day with a double and two RBIs. The only other player with an extra-base hit was Riley Tirotta, who hit his first triple of the season and also had a multi-hit game. Devonte Brown also had two singles.

There were only two players that failed to reach base with a hit, Phil Clarke and Alex De Jesus, the latter struck out all four times he was at the plate, oof. Josh Kasevich, Zach Britton, Gabriel Martinez, and Miguel Hiraldo all had singles.
Pitching was strong for New Hampshire on Wednesday, with Devereaux Harrison starting the game and finishing with a line of 5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to 7.08. Hunter Gregory ate some innings as well, striking out three batters and giving up two hits in three innings of work. Ryan Boyer pitched a clean ninth inning.
<h2>Vancouver shuts out Tri-City</h2>
From one shutout to another, the Vancouver Canadians defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils 5-0 to move their record to 9-10. They sit third in the Northwest League, five games behind Spokane for the lead.
Jeffrey Wehler’s three-run double in the top of the fourth gave the Canadians their 5-0 lead, all they’d need to win this game. Wehler was one of two players with a multi-hit game, with Nick Goodwin also having two hits, along with the only other double in this game for Vancouver.

In total, the two players account for over half of Vancouver’s hits, with Ryan McCarty, Brennan Orf, and Dylan Rock hitting singles. Moreover, Jaden Rudd and Jace Bohrofen both walked twice, with the latter reaching base on a hit by pitch as well.
Ryan Jennings is off to a terrific start this season, and he finished Wednesday with a line of 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 0.56. Rafael Ohashi pitched the next three innings, giving up a double but striking out three batters. In 9.2 innings this season, the Brazilian hasn’t given up a run.
Conor Larkin pitched a clean inning, while Justin Kelly struck out two batters and allowed a hit in an inning of work to bring his season ERA to 2.25.
<h2>Dunedin lost a close one</h2>
After snapping their nine-game losing streak on Tuesday, the Dunedin Blue Jays were back in the losing column on Wednesday, as they were defeated by the Tampa Tarpons 5-4.
The D-Jays didn’t have much in terms of hits, but three of the four hits were doubles! Manuel Beltre, Victor Arias, and Tucker Toman hit the three doubles this game, with Toman driving in two runs with his double and Beltre driving in one with his. Yhoangel Aponte had the other D-Jays hit.
Juaron Watts-Brown started the game for the Blue Jays, and finished with a line of 4.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 7 K with a home run given up to bring his season ERA to 5.50. It wasn’t a great game, but he led the game with 19 whiffs, including seven whiffs on 13 total swings with the cutter and nine whiffs on 12 total swings on the changeup. The fastball averaged 92.1 mph and maxed out a tick under 94 mph.

Carson Pierce was the next reliever out of the arm barn, and he pitched an inning and a third, giving up a walk but striking out a batter. J.J. Sanchez struck out three batters over two innings, while Aaron Munson was tagged with the loss, giving up an earned run in his inning of work.
