There are just two games left in the minor league season.
On Friday, the Buffalo Bisons played their fourth of six games against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Their second-half record now sits at 31-41.
The RailRiders took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third thanks to a double from Caleb Durbin and a sacrifice fly from Jorbit Vivas. However, the Bisons cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third, as the recently called up Braden Barry hit a double for his first Triple-A hit and RBI.
With that being said, that was the only scoring that the Bisons got, as the RailRiders scored three more runs in the final six innings to take this one 5-1.
Diving into the stats…
It was Braden Barry’s first Triple-A game, as he was called up to replace the injured Alan Roden. Well, he hit a double and was the only Bison hit with a multi-hit game. Orelvis Martinez hit his 18th double of the season, while Riley Tirotta hit his 15th double in Triple-A. Josh Kasevich, Payton Henry, Will Robertson, and Nick Raposo all had a hit.
Andrew Bash started the game for the Bisons, pitching two scoreless innings. Paxton Schultz was tagged with the loss, as he gave up three earned runs in three and two thirds innings while also striking out three. Mason Fluharty gave up a solo home run and his Triple-A ERA sits at 3.63.
Eric Pardinho continued his scoreless stretch of baseball, striking out a batter in a clean inning and a third of work. Since August 17, Pardinho has pitched 12 innings with no runs allowed, along with a 1.32 FIP, a 34.9 K%, and a 2.3 BB%. Luis Frías gave up an earned run in his inning of work.
Elsewhere in the Jays’ system
The year of the Tommy John surgery continued to plague the Blue Jays. It was reported on Saturday that three Blue Jays pitchers underwent the surgery – Chad Dallas, Carson Pierce, and Nolan Perry.
Blue Jays prospects Chad Dallas (Buffalo), Nolan Perry (Dunedin) and Carson Pierce (Vancouver) had Tommy John surgery earlier this month, source tells me & @ArdenZwelling. Top pitching prospects Ricky Tiedemann, Brandon Barriera & Landen Maroudis also had the procedure this yr
Dallas spent most of 2024 on the Injured List after a great 2023 season. In 61 innings, Dallas had a 6.34 ERA and a 5.54 FIP. Pierce went undrafted and signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 draft. This season between Single-A and High-A, he had a 2.95 ERA and a 3.24 FIP in 64 innings pitched, along with a 24.3 K% and a 9.6 BB%.
As for Perry, he was selected in the 12th-round of the 2022 draft and had a solid season in Single-A, posting a 2.93 ERA and a 4.25 FIP in 46 innings pitched. Moreover, he had a 27.5 K% and an 18.8 BB%.
It’s unclear what type of Tommy John surgery the three pitchers had, but they join Ricky Tiedemann, Alek Manoah, Brandon Barriera, and Landen Maroudis on the shelf due to the surgery.
