Who doesn’t love home runs in a blowout.
Five of the six Blue Jays’ affiliates were in action on Tuesday, combining for a record 3-2, a good day in the office. The Dominican Summer League Jays were rained out, unfortunately.
Let’s take a look at that in the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo hit three home runs in a loss

The Buffalo Bisons fell 10-4, but managed to hit three home runs in the loss. Their second-half record fell to 3-5.
Steward Berroa’s home run in the first inning cut the lead to 8-1, but it was also his eighth home run of the season, a new career-high for the centrefielder. It’s been a heck of a year.
Will Robertson has been streaky all year, and on Tuesday, he hit his 13th home run of the season and his sixth home run since June 18, where he has slashed .250/.388/.775 in 49 plate appearances for a 177 wRC+.
Gabriel Cancel hadn’t hit a home run in affiliated ball since 2022 prior to signing with the Jays organization on June 25. He didn’t hit a home run in his first game, but he’s hit one in each of his last four games.
Cancel also had a single and two walks, while Damiano Palmegiani had two singles. Miguel Hiraldo, Max McDowell, and Cam Eden each had a single, with the latter walking twice.
Unfortunately, pitching wasn’t up to snuff in this game. Chad Dallas made the start and gave up six earned runs in less than an inning pitched before being pulled. Paxton Schultz gave up two earned runs in 3.1 innings, while Abdiel Mendoza gave up two earned runs, two walks, and two strikeouts in two innings of work.
The bullpen settled down after that though, as Hayden Juenger struck out a batter in two innings of work, and Brandon Eisert pitched a clean inning with a strikeout.

New Hampshire fell 5-3

The only other affiliate who didn’t win in the Jays’ organization on Tuesday was the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, who fell 5-3 to the Portland Sea Dogs. They sit at the bottom of the Eastern League Northeast division with a 2-5 record.
Garrett Spain hit the only extra-base hit for the Fisher Cats, his fifth double of the season. However, they did have nine hits, as Ryan McCarty, Micahel Turconi, Alex De Jesus, Rainer Nuñez, Cade Doughty, Glenn Santiago, and Zach Britton had a single, with the latter hitting two. The only player who didn’t reach on a hit was Gabriel Martinez, who reached on a walk.
Adam Macko made the start for the Canadians, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K with a home run given up to bring his season ERA to 4.42. Andrew Bechtold and Jimmy Burnette each pitched an inning while giving up an earned run, with the latter striking out two and walking two.

Vancouver got back to their winning ways

The Vancouver Canadians’ nine-game winning streak was snapped on Canada Day, but they got back to their winning ways on Tuesday. Canada’s only minor league team defeated the Everett AquaSox 4-3 to bring their second-half record to 10-1.
Dasan Brown, who is only 22 by the way, hit his sixth home run of the season in 222 plate appearances to give him a 134 wRC+ for the year. He had a rough season in 2023, but you can see the potential ooze from the speedy centrefielder.
Robert Brooks hit his first home run in affiliated ball, as this home run tied the game at one in the bottom of the third. Marcos De La Rosa hit his second double in Vancouver, while Estiven Machado hit his first triple of the year. Dylan Rock had a single.
Pat Gallagher had the start for the Canadians, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K to bring his season ERA to 4.80. Chay Yeager was the first out of the bullpen, striking out two in two innings of work. Grayson Thurman picked up the save, giving up a home run but maintaining the Canadians’ lead.

Dunedin thrashed the Threshers

The Dunedin Blue Jays throttled the Clearwater Threshers, winning 14-7 to bring their season record to 3-3.
There were two home runs hit in this game. Cristian Feliz hit his 11th home run of the year, as he had an exit velocity of 116.2 mph, the highest in the Florida State League this season. The batting average isn’t great, but the raw power is there.
Jean Joseph hit the D-Jays’ other home run, his fourth of the season, while driving in six runs. The 19-year-old outfielder is putting together a nice little season and is a prospect worth monitoring.
On top of the home runs, the D-Jays also had six doubles. Joey Votto hit his first two doubles of the season, Arjun Nimmala hit his seventh double of the season, Joseph hit his 14th double, Tucker Toman hit his 10th homer, and Victor Arias hit his 15th double.
In terms of multi-hit games, Votto, Joseph, and Toman had three-hit performances. Feliz, Nimmala, and Arias had two-hit performances.
Kendry Rojas made the start for Dunedin, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K. Next up was Gage Stanifer, who pitched three innings with an earned run, two walks, and four strikeouts. J.J. Sanchez pitched a clean inning with two strikeouts, and Nate Garkow made his affiliate debut, giving up three earned runs in an inning pitched.

FCL Jays pick up their 10th win

On Tuesday, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays defeated the FCL Phillies 6-4 to bring their record to 10-32. A win is a win!
The F-Jays had 11 hits on the day, with the biggest being Roque Salinas’ first home run of the season at any level. On top of that, he had a three-hit performance. Andres Sosa hit a double and had a two-hit performance, while Gregori Cano and Jonathan Peguero each had two singles. Yhoangel Aponte, Drew Jemison, and Carlos Vasquez singled as well.
Cristopher Castro made the start for the FCL Jays, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K with a home run given up to bring his season ERA to 4.64. Carlos Meza struck out five and walked a batter in three innings pitched, and Luis Torres struck out the side in his inning of work.
