<p>Right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson has joined the Blue Jays from Triple-A Buffalo but he hasn&#8217;t been added to the team&#8217;s 26-man active roster. Pearson is on Toronto&#8217;s taxi squad in the event that Romano needs some time off.</p>

<p>Romano pitched for the American League in the All-Star Game in Seattle a couple of weeks ago but was pulled after experiencing some back soreness. He didn&#8217;t pitch in Toronto&#8217;s first series back from the break against the Arizona Diamondbacks and then pitched four times in five days against the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, and Los Angeles Dodgers.</p>
<p>After a few days off between his save in Toronto&#8217;s first game of their series with the Dodgers, Romano came in to pitch the ninth inning of Friday&#8217;s game against the Los Angeles Angels. He allowed two singles and a walk and recorded two outs before being pulled from the game. Yimi Garcia came in and got Mickey Moniak to line out to end the game.</p>
<p>Pearson, meanwhile, was demoted to Triple-A Buffalo following a couple of rough outings. He allowed two earned runs over two innings of work against the Padres in a 9-1 blowout loss and then got tagged for four runs while recording just one out in a 9-8 loss to the Mariners.</p>
<p>The big righty had been putting together a very solid season in Toronto&#8217;s bullpen. Before those appearances against the Padres and Mariners, Pearson had posted a 3.48 ERA over 33 2/3 innings while striking out 35 batters and walking 10. The six earned runs over two-and-one-third innings ballooned Pearson&#8217;s ERA to 4.75 on the season.</p>
<p>Pearson made just one appearance with the Bisons after being sent down. He threw one-and-two-thirds scoreless innings against the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees and worked around three walks while striking out four batters.</p>
