The other half of the return from last summer’s Louis Varland-Ty France trade is reportedly heading to the majors.

Prior to Monday’s series opener against the New York Mets, the Minnesota Twins are expected to promote left-handed pitching prospect Kendry Rojas from Triple-A, as Declan Goff and Darren Wolfson of SKOR North first reported. It may only be a brief appearance, though, with the 23-year-old hurler slated to replace Kody Funderburk once he’s added to the paternity list, per the Minnesota Star Tribune’s Bobby Nightengale.

Rojas, acquired alongside outfield prospect Alan Roden in a blockbuster deal from the Toronto Blue Jays’ farm system, has been limited to just 7.1 innings this season due to a hamstring injury. But he’s been effective when healthy, allowing zero earned runs (two unearned) on six hits and four walks while striking out seven in three games (two starts).

The Twins will likely use Rojas as a multi-inning reliever out of the bullpen, since he’s only been built up to 3.1 innings thus far after missing the final few weeks of spring training and beginning the year on the injured list. When he makes his first appearance, however, it’ll serve as his long-awaited Major League debut — arriving six years after signing as an international free agent out of Cuba with the Blue Jays.

Numerous injuries have hindered Rojas’ development since arriving stateside in 2021. But everything finally came together for him last season as he logged 69 innings across four levels — including his first stints at both Double-A and Triple-A.

In total, the southpaw made nine Triple-A starts between the Blue Jays and Twins’ affiliates, but he struggled to a 7.24 ERA and 6.00 FIP, walking almost as many batters (25) as he struck out (34) over 32.1 innings. He entered this season as Minnesota’s No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, while Roden has graduated from his prospect status after playing 55 combined major league games between Toronto and Minnesota last season.

The 26-year-old outfielder has spent the entire 2026 campaign at Triple-A thus far, slashing an impressive .295/.456/.508 with four doubles, three home runs, 15 RBIs and a 159 wRC+ (100 league average) in 17 games. He’s also shown remarkable plate discipline, earning 17 walks to just 11 strikeouts.

Both Rojas and Roden are currently on Minnesota’s 40-man roster.
